Little attention has been paid to just how we will support ourselves in a future that was once at our doorstep but is now walking right into the homes of millions of unemployed Americans and will soon to be the way of the world.
In their highly original, cutting-edge workshop Sustainable Livelihoods: Now, in Transition and Post-Peak, Paul and Sarah Edwards will do just that. This course describes the new Elm Street Economy we need to be creating in our local communities as the era of big business, Wall Street and the franchise-strip-malls of Main Street fade. It provides a snapshot of and a long list of possibilities for the kinds of livelihoods we can expect will flourish in place of the outdated jobs and careers we’ve been trained for and with which 90% of us support ourselves.
The course outlines pathways for getting from our current salaries and skills through the transition we have already experiencing to supporting ourselves in sustainable, resilient local communities of the future. Before, during, and after the course, you will have an opportunity to assess your own circumstances and explore how your interests, needs, and talents can fit into a post-peak future.
