Understanding What's Happening
It's hard to know what steps we need to take and preparations we need to make to create an Elm Street Economy if we don't understand the circumstances we're in, why they aren't working, and what needs to be changed. Though we do not necessarily agree with all the conclusions and opinions expressed, these resources provide much needed perspective.

The US Debt Clock
Where Temperatures Will Soar
The Pacific Garbage Patch
The End of Suburbia
Presented in a paradoxically light-hearted style at times, this 78-minuted
documentary provides an introduction by a variety of experts to the
implications a worldwide dwindling oil supply will have on our American way
of life. At the time the movie was made this was an impending issue. Oil was
still well below a $100/gallon. That many of the effects projected in this
DVD are already beginning to occur makes the full-scope of issues presented
here more compelling.
Everything's
Cool
This 89-minute documentary
provides a thorough background for understanding the difficult,
long-traveled, and arduous road of dedicated professionals who have
undertaken to call the issue of global warming to the attention of the
scientific community, the media, our policy makers and the public. Produced
and directed by award-winning directors Daniel B. Gold and Helfand.
The
Inconvenient Truth
This Academy-award-winning documentary is a 86-minute amiable, low-key, and
politically nonpartisan presentation by former vice-president Al Gore on the
evidence and effects of global warming. Though it features a wealth of
information-packed graphs and charts, the film is presented by director
Davis Guggenheim in a thoughtful, compelling, sometimes humorous and always
engaging way.
What A Way To Go: Life at the End of Empire
Becoming quite a cult hit with the under 30 crowd, this 123-
minute documentary presents a more personal and psychological
perspective on the overwhelming challenges of peaking fossil
fuels, degraded ecosystems, a changing climate, fast-growing worldwide
population growth, and vulnerable global economies present to
daily life as we know it.
